Maine - Kits Across America
Regular price 50.00
Unit price per
Part of the O&Y Kits Across America Series. 50% of sales go directly to the designer and 25% of sales go to a charity of the designer's choice in their home state.
This kit is a tribute to the first official flag of Maine. It's called Maine 1901. There is the green Pine tree (Maine's state tree), a Native symbol of New England and freedom and the North Star that is on the side of the Pine to symbolize the direction to follow. The North Star, in fact, represents the state motto: dirigo ("I Lead"). On the chest there is the logotype Maine that derives from the font used in old license plates. The crest adheres to the theme with a minimalist design, including all the elements present in the flag. It's based on the design of the flag created by Maine Flag Company for the merchants and for the sailors. Sleeves include green-blue horizontal stripes. Sleeve cuffs are in green while the V-collar is in blue. On the back, behind the collar, there is the text "The Pine Tree State" that is the Officiale State Nickname of Maine.
25% of the proceeds will go to the Friends of Acadia, a group that preserves, protects, and promotes stewardship of the outstanding natural beauty, ecological vitality, and distinctive cultural resources of Acadia National Park and surrounding communities for the inspiration and enjoyment of current and future generations.
